Coconut Burfi is one of the most popular of recent trending meals in the world. It is appreciated by millions daily. It is simple, it’s quick, it tastes delicious. They’re nice and they look fantastic. Coconut Burfi is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

Coconut burfi recipe - One of the most commonly made barfi recipe during festivals like holi, diwali, navratri. To make coconut burfi we do not need to check any string consistency. Coconut burfi recipe with step by step photos.

To get started with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook coconut burfi using 6 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Get 2 cups Coconut grated -
  2. Make ready 1 1/2 cups Sugar -
  3. Get 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder -
  4. Get 1 tbsp Water -
  5. Take 1 pinch Saffron -
  6. Get 1 tsp Ghee - ( optional)

Fresh grated coconut in cardamom flavoured sugar syrup. Coconut Burfi is made with coconut powder combined with a cardamom flavored sugar syrup. This is a scrumptious dessert or snack. Coconut burfi / thengai burfi is very easy to make and only with few ingredients.

Instructions to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Blitz the grated coconut in a blender without water to even out the coconut shavings
  2. In a thick bottomed pot place the sugar and coconut and cook on low flame and let the sugar slowly melt. Keep stirring.
  3. In a small cup soak the saffron in water and grease a 12" steel tray/thali with ghee or oil. Set aside
  4. After 10 min. add the saffron water along with the cardamom powder and continue to cook. The moisture in the mixture would now slowly start drying up. at this point add the ghee (optional)
  5. In another 10 min. the mixture will stop sticking to the sides. At this point stir continuously and the edges of the coconut mixture will start falling away from the side.
  6. Remove from flame and pour onto the greased plate. Shake the plate a bit so that the coconut mixture spreads evenly. After a few min take a sharp knife and cut the semi hardened mixture into squares or diamond shapes.
  7. Once it cools completely, remove the burfi squares(about 20 pieces) from the plate with the help of the knife and store it in an airtight jar.
  8. If the burfi turns out to be too powdery(when cooked for to long) place it back in the pan add a few splashes of water and cook again until the mixture reaches the desired consistency, then pour it on to a greased thali. Follow from step 6 onwards.

Easy step by step photos method, without sugar syrup consistency. I wonder why I have not attempted to make this. Coconut Burfi / Thengai Burfi is hubbys fav and my MIL is an expert in making this. To me she makes the best coconut burfis - perfect in texture and shape too. As diwali is nearing, I wanted to try this.
