- Baati : combine the ingredients for baati in a bowl till the texture looks crumbly. Add a little bit water at a time to make a dough that is little stiffer than for rotli. - Adjust consistency. Dal must be not too thick or too thin. It should have the consistency like tadka Dal.
- Garlic chutney: Combine garlic cloves, chilli powder, dhaniya jeera powder and salt in a mortar. Pound them into paste. In a tadka pan, heat oil and add the garlic paste. Fry a bit and then add 1-2 tbsp water. Boil till oil oozes on the surface.
- To serve: take Dal in a bowl. Break a baati into it. Top it up with garlic chutney, chopped onion and some ghee. Serve hot.
