Capsicum chutney is totally new to me, had no clue about this chutney. I always love the colourful capsicum and tempted to buy. She had made this chutney using red bell pepper / red capscium. But I prepared it using green capsicum and slightly modified the recipe to suit our taste.

Steps to make Idli with capsicum chutney:
  1. Chutney recripe:- Take 1 teaspoon of oil, add roughly chopped onions, ginger, garlic, dried chillies and saute.
  2. Once onions turn mushy, add capsicum and fry further. Later add 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes and saute till tomatoes are soft.
  3. Once this cools down, put everything in a blender, add 2 spoons of coconut,salt, coriander leaves and water.
  4. Blend it to a paste. Finish it up with tadka/oggaraney of oil, mustard and asafetida.
  5. For idli:-Throw some green chillies and ginger into the blender, make a seasoning of mustard seeds, chanadal and half dried chilli in coconut oil.
  6. Add this and the ground paste to the idli batter.
  7. Same can be followed for the rava idli batter. Today I prepared with rava idli mix.
  8. You can also add chopped coriander and curry leaves.

It came out very well & it tastes very similar to my tomato mint chutney. We loved it a lot with idli,dosa. I saw few capsicum chutney recipes with. Capsicum chutney is very delicious too and tastes too good with idli. Temper mustard seeds and urad dal in one teaspoon oil.
