The ingredients needed to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Make ready 1 cup fresh coconut
  2. Get 1 cup milk powder
  3. Take 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  4. Prepare 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  5. Make ready 1 tsp milk (as required)
  6. Take 4 drops Rose essence

Fresh grated coconut in cardamom flavoured sugar syrup. Coconut Burfi is made with coconut powder combined with a cardamom flavored sugar syrup. This is a scrumptious dessert or snack. Coconut burfi / thengai burfi is very easy to make and only with few ingredients.

Steps to make Coconut Burfi:
  1. Take 1 cup of fresh coconut and grind it and make a fine powder. Take 1 cup of milk powder in a bowl,add ground coconut, powdered sugar, cardamom powder. Mix all the ingredients properly and knead it. Add 1 tsp milk (as required) and knead again.
  2. Now divide into 2 equal parts. Now add rose essence, orange food colour in one part and knead well. Place aluminum foil and grease with butter/ghee. Flatten the dough in a rectangular shape and keep aside. Now grease another aluminum foil with butter/ ghee. Take another white part and flatten the dough in a rectangular shape.Place one top of the other.
  3. Remove upper aluminum foil and roll cylindrical shape. Now garnish with chopped pistachios and wrap again with aluminum foil. Keep it the refrigerator for 1 hour. After 1 hour remove aluminum foil and cut in slices in a serving plate. Enjoy the delicious sweet.

Easy step by step photos method, without sugar syrup consistency. I wonder why I have not attempted to make this. Coconut Burfi / Thengai Burfi is hubbys fav and my MIL is an expert in making this. To me she makes the best coconut burfis - perfect in texture and shape too. As diwali is nearing, I wanted to try this.
