Thayir(Curd/Yoghurt) semiya is a wonderful dish for Breakfast / Lunch as a substitute of curd rice. The tempered masalas with the flavour of coriander leaves gives rich taste to this dish.
Steps to make Curd Semiya:
- To begin with boil the vermicelli in 2 cups of water adding salt and 1 tsp oil for about 3 minutes. Drain and keep it aside to cool down.
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds. When they splutter, add green chilli, dry chilli, ginger, curry leaves, and saute for few seconds. Then add the boiled vermicelli and mix well. Remove from the heat.
- Take curd in a bowl. Add salt and some water. Beat the curd till it turns smooth.
- Next heat 1 tsp oil in a pan for the seasoning. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds. When they sizzle, add green chilli, dry chilli and curry leaves. Saute for few seconds and remove from the heat.
- Add the seasoning to the curd and mix well.
- Now pour this curd mix over the cooked vermicelli. Add grated coconut and mix well.
- Now curd semiya is ready. Serve garnished with pomegranate seeds and few grated coconut.
Thayir Semiya or Curd Vermicelli is a quick dish which you can make for lunch. If you are bored of eating curd rice everyday, you can always make this Thayir semiya or curd semiya for a change. Cook semiya adding enough water and drain well. Fluff with a fork while it is still warm else it will become very sticky.
