Steps to make Yam porridge:
- Peel yam, wash, cut into cubes and put in a pot, add adequate water to it.
- Blend pepper and tomatoes and add to the yam.
- Add palm oil, salt/seasoning cubes, dried fish. Cover and allow to boil until yam is almost cooked. Allow to cook until tender.
- When yam is cooked, add washed/sliced pumpkin leaves (ugu).
- Add grinded crayfish, sliced onions…cover and allow to steam. Stir to combine all the ingredients together.
- Your yam porridge is ready.. Enjoy!!!
I was told I Now thinking about it i am beginning to wonder if the rave about Chichi's yam porridge was truely based. Asaro is different from basic Nigerian yam porridge because it is made with tomato paste fried with palm oil, pepper and onions. It`s a delicious dish of the Nigerian cuisine. You can easily prepare it at home. There is nothing better than yam porridge with plantain for your dinner.
