Steps to make Radish sambhar:
  1. Cut radish to small pieces.
  2. Rinse tuvar dal.
  3. Now add 1 cup water to rinsed yellow lentil,add chopped radish and turmeric to it.
  4. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles till the dal is well cooked.
  5. When dal and radish are cooked add tamarind water to it and let sambhar mixture boil for sometime.
  6. Then add sambhar powder and salt to taste.Let them boil for more minutes.
  7. Grind coconut and tomatoes together.Make a fine paste.
  8. Add this paste to boiling sambhar.Boil for five more minutes.
  9. Sambhar is ready.
  10. Now for tempering.Heat 1 tsp of oil.
  11. Add mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves.
  12. Pour this tempering on ready sambhar.
  13. Radish Sambhar is ready.Serve it hot with idli,dosa,upma or rice.

It is best enjoyed with plain white rice, idli, dosa and even pongal. This radish sambar uses sambar powder and I am using the Everest sambar masala here.
