- Cut radish to small pieces.
- Rinse tuvar dal.
- Now add 1 cup water to rinsed yellow lentil,add chopped radish and turmeric to it.
- Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles till the dal is well cooked.
- When dal and radish are cooked add tamarind water to it and let sambhar mixture boil for sometime.
- Then add sambhar powder and salt to taste.Let them boil for more minutes.
- Grind coconut and tomatoes together.Make a fine paste.
- Add this paste to boiling sambhar.Boil for five more minutes.
- Sambhar is ready.
- Now for tempering.Heat 1 tsp of oil.
- Add mustard seeds, a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Pour this tempering on ready sambhar.
- Radish Sambhar is ready.Serve it hot with idli,dosa,upma or rice.
It is best enjoyed with plain white rice, idli, dosa and even pongal. This radish sambar uses sambar powder and I am using the Everest sambar masala here.
