- Prepare 2 coconut
- Make ready 1 coconut grated
- Prepare 1 coconut grinded
- Get 30 cardamoms
- Prepare 1/2 kg sugar
- Make ready 1 litre milk
- Make ready 100 g pistachios grated
- Get 100 gms badams grated
- Take 1 tbsp ghee
Fresh grated coconut in cardamom flavoured sugar syrup. Coconut Burfi is made with coconut powder combined with a cardamom flavored sugar syrup. This is a scrumptious dessert or snack. Coconut burfi / thengai burfi is very easy to make and only with few ingredients.
Instructions to make Coconut burfi:
- Heat a kadhai and add the milk to make khoya.I think all of you know how to make khoya,reduce the milk quantity by boiling it for some minutes stirring it until the milk turn into thick paste.. Then keep it aside
- At the same time of making khoya we will grind one coconut with Cardamoms and some water
- On the same Kadhai add the grinded coconut mix.Boil it. After 10 mins add the grated coconut to it and add the sugar also. Boil it and stirring it until it tightens like khoya switch off the flame.Then add khoya.Mix it thoroughly.
- Add half of the grated pistachios and badams.Mix again.
- Then take a plate,brush ghee on it.Set the Barfi mix on the plate.Sprinkle the remaining pistachios and badams to it,wait for 10 mins.
- Then cut the Barfi with a knife like squares,wait for another 20 mins.Separate the cut pieces to a bowl.
- Keep in fridge for 2 hrs to make it more tasty.
Easy step by step photos method, without sugar syrup consistency. I wonder why I have not attempted to make this. Coconut Burfi / Thengai Burfi is hubbys fav and my MIL is an expert in making this. To me she makes the best coconut burfis - perfect in texture and shape too. As diwali is nearing, I wanted to try this.
